What Our Clients Are Saying
"The Issac Merrill Foundation was formed to move and restore the two story brick Issac Merrill house which was built in approximately 1828. The house was moved from its original location in 1987 and placed on blocks in a parking lot on the Haverhill-Plaistow border.
Rich Geddes met with the committee in the fall of 1992 and helped us coordinate the necessary steps needed to make the move. The committee immediately felt confident that if the house could be moved the 5.5 miles across town that Rich was certainly capable of doing it.
The Geddes movers carefully prepared the house for the move and the tremendous publicity that it created. The day of the move, October 19, 1993, the movers were ready at first light to join a huge parade of electrical, telephone and cable workers along with a barrage of police, fire, ambulance, press and general spectators.
Rich and his men handled themselves with the utmost diligence and professionalism throughout the move. The house took two days to move with two days in-between for rain.
I would recommend Rich Geddes and his workers to anyone seeking a highly professional company to work with in relocating a house."
- Joan C., Treasurer, Issac Merrill House Foundation
"Richard Geddes' building moving company moved a home in the summer of 1990 for the Brookline Historical Society. There was not a multiplicity of such businesses from which to choose. There were even fewer one could find with the reputation for honesty, good workmanship and efficiency which was the case with Geddes Building Movers, Inc. Mr. Geddes received this job among several bidders. He cooperatively and carefully helped us prepare for the move. He and his staff executed the move with extraordinary professionalism and care. This job, by its nature, could not be a particularly profitable job for Geddes Building Movers, Inc., but the project was taken on and carried out with the highest possible skill and diligence. It was a pleasure doing business with Mr. Geddes and I would enthusiastically recommend his services."
- Ann B. W., President, Brookline Historical Society
"The Bedford Historical Society is pleased that we have saved from demolition an 1847 building known as "The Little Green House". The building was located within the footprint of the new Bedford Library.
Geddes Building Movers, Inc. was hired to move The Little Green House to its new location adjacent to our Bedford Historical Society headquarters, School House #7, where it will be renovated and serve as a historical museum. Rich Geddes and his crew performed the move with the expertise of true professionals.
Due to poor condition of the building, there were many Bedford residents who were very pessimistic about the move, but Rich reassured us and even wrote a letter to the Bedford Town Council stating that the building could be moved as is. Rich was quite willing to go beyond the scope of his duties to help us with this move.
The Little Green House is now sitting securely on its new foundation thanks to Rich and his crew. We greatly appreciate all their effort and would highly recommend Geddes Building Movers, Inc. for any building move."
- Beverly T., Bedford Historical Society
"In April 1994, I engaged Geddes Building Movers, Inc. of Bow, New Hampshire to move my four-bedroom, two story cottage from my property to a vacant lot owned by my sister, approximately 400 feet down the road. The purpose of the move was to allow me to build a new home on the lot where this cottage was located. I had two choices: tear down the cottage that had been in the family for 45 years and lose a lot of fond memories, or give it to my sister and have her move the cottage onto her property. This option would preserve the fond memories as well as give her a nice cottage. It would also save the immediate expense of tearing the structure down and removing the debris.
I contacted Richard Geddes and engaged his services. I am happy to say that I was very, very pleased with the results. Mr. Geddes moved the structure. We did not have to take any of the furniture, fixtures or dishes out of the cottage during the move. Also, Mr. Geddes moved the cottage without breaking a window or damaging the fieldstone fireplace that remained in the structure.
Mr. Geddes did a very professional job. Not only was I pleased with the results but pleased with his dealings and his professionalism in his trade. I would be very happy to recommend him to anyone who would like to have a structure moved."
